<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Vi i Biowater Technology er stolte over å være valgt som leverandør av <strong>prosessrenseanlegget</strong> til det nye hovedrenseanlegget GORA på Orkanger. Kontrakten ble signert torsdag 19. mars sammen med Orkland kommune og NCC Norge – en viktig milepæl i kommunens største samspillprosjekt noensinne.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I konkurransen oppnådde vi <strong>høyeste totalscore</strong> basert på pris, kompetanse og oppgaveforståelse.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Det nye anlegget får kapasitet til <strong>38 000 pe</strong>, som sikrer Orkland kommune et moderne og framtidsrettet renseanlegg med betydelig bedre miljø- og renseeffekt.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Et viktig prosjekt for regionen og for miljøet</strong><br>Det eksisterende renseanlegget på Orkanger er modent for utskifting og oppfyller ikke lenger kravene til moderne rensing. Statsforvalteren har satt frist til <strong>1. oktober 2028</strong> for å ha nytt anlegg i drift.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Det nye GORA‑anlegget vil stå på Grønøra Øst, rett ved dagens anlegg, og vil gi:</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">• Betydelig bedre rensing av avløpsvann<br>• Fremtidssikret kapasitet for vekst<br>• Moderne teknologi med lavt miljøavtrykk<br>• Trygghet for lokalmiljøet og fjorden</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Byggestart er planlagt ved årsskiftet <strong>2026/2027</strong>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Biowater Technology selected for Orkland’s new main wastewater treatment plant 🚀</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Biowater Technology is proud to have been selected as the supplier of the <strong>process treatment system</strong> for the new GORA wastewater treatment plant in Orkanger. The contract was signed on Thursday, 19 March, together with Orkland Municipality and NCC Norway—marking a key milestone in the municipality’s largest partnering project to date.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Biowater achieved the <strong>highest overall score</strong> in the competition, based on price, competence, and understanding of the project.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The new facility will have a capacity of <strong>38,000 PE</strong>, providing Orkland Municipality with a modern, future‑oriented treatment plant that delivers significantly improved environmental and purification performance.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>A critical project for the region and the environment</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The existing treatment plant in Orkanger is outdated and no longer meets current regulatory requirements. The County Governor has set a deadline of <strong>1 October 2028</strong> for the new plant to be operational.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Located at Grønøra Øst, adjacent to the current facility, the new GORA plant will deliver:</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">• Significantly improved wastewater treatment<br>• Capacity ready for future population and industry growth<br>• Modern, low‑emission technology<br>• Greater environmental protection for the fjord and local community</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Construction is planned to start at the turn of <strong>2026/2027</strong>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Med over 30 år som spesialister innen avansert biologisk avløpsrensing, er det inspirerende å få bidra med løsingar som både styrker driftssikkerheten og reduserer miljøavtrykket over tid.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">💧 <strong>Teknologi som gjør en forskjell</strong><br>For oss handler avløpsrensing om mer enn infrastruktur – det handler om å beskytte økosystem, sikre bærekraftige vannressurser og ta ansvar for fremtidens fjorder. At vi nå får være med på å forbedre vannkvaliteten i Ålesund-området, betyr ekstra mye for vår Daglig leder, Dag Kibsgaard-Petersen, som selv har vokst opp på Kråmyra.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">♻️ <strong>Ett steg videre for innovasjon og miljøansvar</strong><br>Kontrakten er et viktig bidrag i vårt arbeid med å utvikle løsinger som støtter sirkulær økonomi og redusert miljøbelastning. Vi setter også stor pris på den gode dialogen med prosjektet Blå fjorder, som har lagt vekt på kvalitet, driftskostnader og god forståelse av prosessbehov i konkurransen.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Installasjonen av maskin- og prosessutstyr starter etter sommeren, og vi ser fram til et tett og konstruktivt samarbeid videre.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">🌊 <strong>Sammen skaper vi renere fjorder – for generasjonane som kommer!</strong><br></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Gjennom prosjektet «<a href="https://blafjordar.no/">BLÅ – fjordar for framtida</a>» samarbeider Ålesund og Sula kommuner om rensing av avløpsvannet fra nær 50.000 innbyggere i de to kommunene (med kapasitet til å behandle 66.000 personekvivalenter). Anlegget på Kongshaugen (Kvasnes) skal gi renere fjorder og samtidig sørge for at alle formelle krav til rensing av de to kommunenes avløpsvann oppfylles.</p>

<p>DAMÜLS<em> claimed in 2006 as the snowiest village in the world, <a>Damüls</a> is a small municipality in Austria. The municipality has its principal activities in the winter tourism. The population varies largely from the winter and the other seasons, which impacts the wastewater flow to be treated.</em></p>

<p>Biowater Technology was contacted by Dr. Richard Moosbrugger from IB-MR in Austria, the consultant of the Damüls Municipality in August 2020, and together worked to find the best solution to upgrade an existing plant to achieve the new requirements for nitrogen and ammonia removal. The solution was to upgrade the existing pure activated sludge plant to a hybrid system, with reuse of of the existing basins upgraded to CFAS® process from Biowater Technology and introduce mixing within existing basins.</p>

<p>The plant had originally thirteen basins, being that two pre clarifiers; five sludge tanks and four activated sludge tanks. The upgrade was done by converting two reactors into denitrification reactors, four to CFAS ® reactors; and adapting some of the sludge tanks to activated sludge reactors. The solution was designed for all conditions that permit the removal requirements in two scenarios:</p>

<p>Winter, when the population triples and in the summer. In summer scenario some reactors will be put out of operation, which will reduce the operational costs.</p>

<p>The plant must perform removal of ammonia lower than 5 mg NH<sub>4</sub>-N/l in any temperature and nitrogen removal of 70% for temperature higher than 12<sup>o</sup>C.  </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Biowater Technology is proud to have signed the FEED study (Front-End Engineering Design) with Slamsug AS, Ålesund Norway for their future unique and sustainable project, where we will design facilities for industrial wastewater. This marks an important step in our and Slamsug AS&#8217;s commitment towards environmentally friendly and sustainable waste management.</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The FEED study will serve as the blueprint for the development of an advanced wastewater treatment plant specifically designed to handle and treat industrial wastewater in compliance with strict environmental regulations. By utilizing our expertise in the industry, Biowater Technology together with Slamsug aims to set new standards for responsible treatment of industrial wastewater.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Main objectives of the FEED study:</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">1. Technology evaluation: The study will assess and select cutting-edge technologies that ensure effective and safe treatment, and minimize the external environment.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">2. Comprehensive risk analysis: A thorough risk assessment will be conducted to identify potential challenges and implement robust measures to mitigate any environmental or operational risks associated with the abatement.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">3. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with local and national industrial purification regulations according to IED will be a priority throughout the FEED study, laying the foundation for a facility that meets BAT-AEL requirements.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">4. Resource optimization: The study will explore opportunities for resource recovery and recycling in the treatment process, in line with circular economy principles.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Commenting on the launch of the FEED study, Stefan Kjørsvik, Commercial Manager at Biowater Technology, said: &laquo;<em>The project with Slamsug AS is an example of our commitment to responsible environmental management. <p>CFIC® reactor contains highly packed biofilm carriers to a degree (typically 90-99% bulk volumetric fill) that little movement of the carriers occurs in the reactor during normal operation. Microorganisms in the biofilm that attach on the surface of the carriers take up pollutants as food for growth.</p>
<p>The CFIC ® process has continuous inflow to the bioreactor and intermittent cleaning, using influent wastewater, which removes excess biomass (sludge) from the biofilm carriers.</p>
